As a researcher in the University of Coimbra, his investigation of the last 10 years was focused on Production Technologies field, and mainly addressed to the mechanical characterization of materials and, in the welds’ quality evaluation. His expertise in using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) for strain measurement, allowed the development of non-conventional tests, for multipurpose characterization of materials. Today, as a Principal Investigator of Friction 4.0 project, develop his activity in the Prediction, Modelling and Control of Frictional Heating during Friction Stir Welding (FSW) and related technologies.
