Balafoutis visited the CIE-UC in 2010 to develop
research within his PhD thesis in the field of Straight Vegetable Oil use as
fuel in Compression Ignition Engines. Diogo Silva Diogo
Silva visited the CIE-UC (Jan-Feb 2012) to develop research within his PhD
thesis in the field of LCA of wood-based panels. Francesco Spina Francesco Spina visited
the CIE-UC (Sep-Dec 2013)
to develop research within his PhD thesis in the field of Risk Analysis and
LCA. Giovanni Francini Giovani
Francini visited the CIE-UC (Sep-Dec 2017) to
develop his MSc thesis under the topic: LCA and LCC about the production and
recovery of energy from waste. Katerina Troullaki Katerina
Troullaki visited the CIE-UC
to learn the LCA methodology and develop her MSc thesis on Sustainability
assessment for small wind turbines (Out-Dec 2017) and to do an Erasmus internship (2019). Luiz

(University of Coimbra, 2014) with a thesis entitled: “Life-cycle
Optimization Model for Distributed Generation in Buildings”, developed at
CIE-UC. Ana André
MSc in Mechanical Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2009) with a thesis entitled "Avaliação de ciclo de vida de biodiesel
com base na soja: considerando os efeitos directos
de alterações na utilização dos solos", developed
at CIE-UC. António Coelho Master in Environmental Engineering (University of
Coimbra, 2012) with a thesis entitled: “Life-cycle assessment of rapeseed
biodiesel, with uncertainty analysis”, developed at CIE-UC. Bruno Ribeiro Bruno
Ribeiro developed the first version of the CIE-UC website. Carolina Passeira Carolina
Passeira was a researcher at INESC-Coimbra working
in in the project “Capturing Uncertainty in Biofuels for Transportation.
Resolving Environmental Performance and Enabling Improved Use”
(MIT/SET/0014/2009) in collaboration with the CIE-UC. Chongyang Du Chongyang
Du was a researcher at CIE-UC where she developed her PhD thesis entitled “Environmental
and social life cycle assessment of sugarcane production in Brazil: comparing
manual and mechanical harvesting.” Diana Rosa MSc in Environmental Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2014) with a thesis entitled “Avaliação de ciclo de vida do tomate e da
castanha em Portugal”, developed at CIE-UC. She was a researcher
at CIE working in the “BioHeavy - Extended
“well-to-wheels” assessment of biodiesel for heavy transport vehicles”
project (PTDC/SEN-TRA/117251/2010). MSc in Environmental Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2011), with a thesis entitled "Biodiesel de girassol ou microalgas em
Portugal: Uma avaliação comparativa de ciclo de vida.". She
was a researcher at CIE-UC working in the “EcoDeep–
Eco-efficiency and Eco-management in Agro-industry” (FCOMP – 05-0128-
FEDER-018643) and “Sustainable mobility: Perspectives for the future of
biofuel production” (PTDC/EMS-ENE/1839/2012)
projects. Gonçalo Felgueiras MSc in Environmental Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2016), with a thesis entitled “Avaliação de Ciclo de Vida de Sistemas
Alternativos para Transporte Urbano e Suburbano em Coimbra”, developed at CIE-UC. Helena Monteiro Helena Monteiro was a researcher at CIE-UC
where she developed her PhD thesis entitled “Comprehensive life cycle
assessment of new houses in Portugal: Building design, envelope, and
operational conditions.” Isabel Lopes Isabel
Lopes was a researcher at CIE-UC, working in renewable energy systems and
project management, from June 2010 to March 2011. Jaime Santos MSc
in Mechanical Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2009), with a thesis
entitled "Energy and Environmental Life-Cycle Assessment of Palm
Oil in Colombia", developed at CIE-UC. João Nunes MSc in Mechanical Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2008), with a thesis entitled: “Avaliação Integrada da Produção de electricidade com base em Biomassa Lenho Celulósica em
Portugal: Emissões de GEE, Análise Tecnológica e Energética de Ciclo de
Vida”, developed at
CIE-UC. João Queirós MSc in Environmental Engineering (University of Coimbra, 2012), with a thesis entitled “Avaliação e Certificação da Sustentabilidade de
Biodiesel: Óleos Alimentares Usados versus Óleo de Soja”, developed
at CIE-UC. He
was a researcher at CIE, working in the EMSURE - Energy and Mobility for SUstainable REgions project
(CENTRO-07-0224-FEDER-002004). João Santos João
Santos was a researcher at CIE-UC working in the EMSURE - Energy and Mobility
